
Edward John Davies was born in Durham, and is currently studying towards his second postgraduate degree in Vocal Studies at Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Andrew Watts. He previously studied at Kings College London. He recently performed the title role in Britten’s The Prodigal Son (Imperial Productions). At Guildhall he has performed scenes including excerpts from A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Lysander), Don Giovanni (Don Ottavio), Ariadne auf Naxos (Scaramuccio), L’incoronazione di Poppea (Nerone) and Albert Herring (Albert). Recent concert engagements have included Vaughan Williams Serenade to Music in St John’s Smith Square. In 2007 he participated in a masterclass with reknowned mezzo-soprano Rosalind Plowright OBE. He has a wide range of recital and oratorio repertoire.
He is a former member of the National Youth Choir of Great Britain, former BBC Radio 3 Choir of the Year Chantage, and the Northern Spirit Singers. Recordings have included the original recording of The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace, which he also performed as a soloist in concert. He has also performed in the backing chorus for Lesley Garrett in concerts across the United Kingdom, including a BBC Christmas television programme.
