Born in Barcelona ,Catalonia in 1979.Josep Colome started his musical studies under the tuition of his father at the age of four. In 1988 he meet the Cuban violinist professor Evelio Tieles pupil of David Oistrach and Henryk Szering with whom he studied for ten years . He graduated with higher marks and degree awards from Consevatorio Superior del Liceo in Barcelona at the age of eighteen.
In 1998 Josep received a scholarship from the Agusti Pedro i Pons Foundation to continue his studies in the Stadtliche Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg , Germany with Nicolas Chumachenco pupil of Jasha Heifetz, where he graduated with the highest marks in 2003.
Josep received a full scholarship in 2003 to study in the United States with the violinist Shmuel Ashkenasi of the Vermeer Quartet in residence at Northern Illinois University and graduate in 2005 with good recommendations.
Josep Colome has played conductors and artists as Lorin Maazel, Augustin Dumay , Heinz Holliger . Salvador Brotons, Fareed Haque , Scott Sandmeier, Peter Gulke, Klaus Hövelman, Enrique Garcia-Asensio, Nicolas Chumachenco.
As he began his career Josep was awarded many prizes both national and international, such as:
National Music Prize and Second Prize at the International ViolinCompetition Amadeo Roldan,1997 Habana , Cuba.
Best Performer prize in Barcelona Young Musicians Festival, organized by Mitsubishi electric.1998 Barcelona.
Second Prize winner in VII Claret Violin Competition, 1994
Jury special prize at the Mendelssohn Wettbewerb in Berlin 2000..

Chamber Music First Prize with the pianist Miriam Gómez- Morán
Second Prize in Contemporary Music, 2000
First Prize in Solo Category, 2003.
First Prize by unanimous decision of the jury at IV Chamber Music International Competition Guadamora, Cordoba, 2003.
He regularly plays concerts and recitals in Switzerland, Germany, France, Holland, Spain, Cuba, El Salvador, United States, Costa Rica, Ecuador.
In 2003 he released his first cd playing music by Astor Piazzolla with his tango quintet ´´Fivefortango´´ and toured through Germany, Spain and recently in the Unites States with the guitarist Fareed Haque.
Josep Colomé was invited in 2005 with pianist Daniel Ligorio by the Spanish Ambassador in Costa Rica to give master classes and recitals in Castella Conservatory, School of Music of the National University of Costa Rica in Heredia and in the Auditorio Nacional in San José, receiving enthusiastic reviews by the national press.
In 2006 toured with pianist, Jose Enrique Bagaria ,playing concerts in El Salvador and Costa Rica and taking part in the XI International Festival of El Salvador .He was invited with his quintet Five4tango to play concerts in Chicago with the renown guitarist Fareed Haque (the Chicago Cultural Center ,The Hot House , N.I.U Guest artists concerts series, etc..)
In April, 2007, Josep Colome played the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with the West Suburban Symphony Orchestra and in the fall of 2007 with the El Salvador National Symphony Orchestra. Concerts with pianist Jose Enrique Bagaria are to be scheduled in 2008 in such countries as Ecuador, Panama, China,Honduras, Ecuador,Chile, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, United States, etc..
