
Krzysztof Czerwinski
Studied at Wieniawski School of Music (Poznan, Poland), Eastman School of Music (University of Rochester, New York, USA) and currently at Birmingham Conservatoire (University of Central England, UK). Additional studies at Dartington International Summer School (England, UK), Charterhouse Summer School of Music (England, UK), Austrian Evangelical Association of Musicians Workshops (Oberschutzen, Austria), Hochschule fur Musik und Theater “Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy” International Summer Music Academy (Leipzig, Germany) and private studies.
His teachers include Irena Wyrzykowska-Mondelska (Piano); Jozef Serafin, David Titterington, Philip Scriven, David Higgs and Jon Laukvik (organ); Richard Coffey, William Weinert and Paul Spicer (choral conducting); Mark Davis Scatterday and Eric Hinton (orchestral conducting); Robert Nakoneczny, Holly Bewlay, Barbara Fink and Julian Pike (voice); Mary Allison Grandey (vocal pedagogy); Erzsebet Windhager-Gered (children’s voice pedagogy); Stephen Kennedy (voice and church music); Shirley Thompson (historical performance practice).
Gives performances throughout Europe and the USA. Won many national and international competitions, awards, scholarships and study grants. Broadcast and recorded for Polish radio and television.
First Place in the 1998 National Organ Competition in Czestochowa (Poland). Minister of Culture and Arts, and Minister of Culture and National Heritage Music Awards (Poland). The “Harold Hyam Wingate Foundation Scholarship” (England, UK) in 2001. In 2002 his organ CD won American Guild of Organists Top Prize (“The M. Louise Miller Scholarship Fund Award”) in Connecticut. In 2002 and 2004 received Austrian Evangelical Association of Musicians Scholarship Award, followed by “C-Prufung” Diploma in Organ Performance. Recipient of the “Eastman Professional Career Development Grant” and both: "Evelyn A. Fraser Scholarship" and "Howard Hanson Scholarship" (Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester, New York). Recently, in 2004, First Prize in American Guild of Organists (AGO) Competition in Buffalo (New York) and First Prize in West Chester University’s Organ Competition (Philadelphia, USA).
Award recipient and member, Choristers Guild (Texas, USA).
Former accompanist, Assistant Conductor/Artistic Director, voice teacher, Poznan Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys (Poland); founder, former conductor, Poznan Cathedral Chamber Choir of Men and Boys (Poland). From September 2004 assisting the Director of Music at Lichfield Cathedral School (England, UK).
