Avguste Antonov - Piano

Biography

Born in 1978 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, Avguste Antonov began studying piano at the age of 5. In 1989, Avguste joined his mother and stepfather in France where he studied at the prestigious private school Ecole Normale de Paris(1989-1990) and at the Conservatoire Nationale de Region de Bordeaux(1990-1999). His teachers in France include Professor Alain Motard and Professor Herve N'Kaoua.

Following his stay in Bordeaux, Avguste Antonov followed his parents to the United States. Avguste has studied at the University of Missouri-Kansas City(1999-2000) under the guidance of Professor Robert Weirich and Professor Stanislav Ioudenitch (2001 co-winner of the Van Cliburn Piano Competition). Then Avguste joined the University of Kansas(2000-2005) where he studied under Professor Jack Winerock and in May 2005, Avguste obtained the Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Kansas. Following sabbatical period of one year, Avguste Antonov moved to Texas, where he is currently attending the prestigious Texas Christian University and working toward his Master in Piano Performance under the direction of Professor Tamas Ungar.

Avguste Antonov has performed extensively with the University of Kansas Wind Ensemble, University of Kansas Symphony and Symphonic Choir and the Texas Christian University Wind Symphony. Performance venues include the Music Education National Convention with the University of Kansas Wind Ensemble and the College Band Directors National Association with the Texas Christian University Wind Symphony.

As soloist, Avguste has performed Liszt 2nd Piano Concerto with the University of Kansas Symphony and the Messiaen's "Colors of the Celestial City" with the University of Kansas Wind Ensemble. He has also performed recitals in Bordeaux(France),Kansas,Iowa,Missouri.

Avguste Antonov has been featured in recordings for MusicForLearning(solo) and Naxos(with the University of Kansas Wind Ensemble)

Avguste Antonov is a lifetime member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars,member of the College Music Society and the Rachmaninoff Society. He is also a featured pianist for the Piano Society(http://www.pianosociety.com)
